Do you know Yaki-Onigiri?

It’s rice ball ( onigiri ) flavoured with soy sauce and other seasoning, and toast or fry.
It’s very popular in Japan.

We used frying pan to make Yaki-Onigiri this time♪

I like the fried soy sauce smell ( it’s very savoury! ) so much♪
And the freshly baked Yaki-onigiri is crispy outside and chewy inside!

You can eat Yaki-onigiri anytime, if you can make it a lot in one time and keep them in freezer.

Let’s take a look at how to make it now♪

Ingredients

( for 2 Yaki-onigiri )

★Cooked rice ▶︎2 rice bowls
★Oil ▶︎as needed ( to fry )
★Butter ▶︎as needed ( to spread on rice ball )

※If you use toaster oven you don’t need to spread butter.
Use Parchment paper to put rice bolls on.

☆Cheese ( if you like ) ▶︎as much as you want
★☆Butter ▶︎1 teaspoon
★☆Soy sauce ▶︎1 tablespoon
★☆Water ▶︎2 tablespoons
★☆Sugar ▶︎2 teaspoons
★☆Chicken bouillon powder ▶︎1 teaspoon

How to make

① Mix all ★☆ ingredients ( butter, soy sauce, water, sugar, chicken bouillon ) in a bowl.
Warm it up in a microwave for 30 ~ 60 seconds.

If the rice is not warm, make the rice warm too

② Put rice in a bowl of ① and mix them well.

③ Spread half of the rice on plastic wrap.
( If you put cheese, put some in middle of the rice )

④ Wrap the all rice and make a boll form first, and then shape it into a circle or triangle in plastic wrap.

⑤ Spread a little butter on rice boll.
( You can spread on the other side when you place it on frying pan )

⑥ Oil the pan a little.

Place the rice boll ( the butter side face down ) and fry it on low to medium heat until golden brown.
Spread butter before turning over the rice boll.

⑦ Fry the other side until golden brown, and it’s all done♪

If you use toaster oven, place rice bolls on parchment paper and toast each side for about 5 minutes each,
and then toast for 4 minutes eace.

( 5 minutes ▶︎ turn over ▶︎ 5 minutes ▶︎ turn over ▶︎ 4 minutes ▶︎ turn over ▶︎ 4 minutes )

If you keep Yaki-onigiri in freezer, wrap them in plastic before it gets cold.
Put them in freezer bag.

When you eat, warm one rice boll in a microwave little by little.

30 seconds ▶︎ check how hot ▶︎ 30 seconds again ▶︎ check ▶︎ 20 ~ 40 seconds ( adjust )
